1. Features

Furoshiki first appeared in Japan during the Nara period, 710-794 A.D., under the name tsutsumi, packaging.
Originally used to store valuables, over the centuries it became a practical way for people to pack their belongings and move around quickly during pilgrimages or wartime to avoid looting.
Furoshiki is also the art of gift wrapping. Great care is taken with the container, which is an integral part of the gift.
The use of this art of knotting fabrics is a way of making our collections part of an ecological approach, by offering an alternative to plastic bags. Once untied, the furoshiki can be used for many purposes.t
